Products and Partners

Why does each product mention how many people were involved in its creation?

At Africanismo, we believe in mindful consumption. We understand the significance of the journey as well as the importance of the destination.

In addition to the Artisan, many different people were involved in getting your products from their original source, to you. Your order has travelled from concept, to production, was refined and packaged, and ultimately delivered to your doorstep. Each product is different. Each journey is unique. Each story is special. By knowing a little more about the story behind your product, we hope to connect you to the creative process, as well as to the skilled craftsman who worked hard to deliver it to you.

Why does my purchase not look exactly like the picture on the website?

Our store is curated in order to ensure our customers only receive high quality items. And while every effort is made to ensure some consistency, all our products are handmade. Therefore one should expect some variations in color, shading, texture, shape and grain. No two handmade items are alike, and every single one is one-of-a-kind. This means that every handmade item you purchase is also unique, and what’s not to like about that?

I am an artisan, how can I feature my products on your website?

Do you have an interesting story to tell? Are your products handmade in Africa? Are you creating something new or distinctive?

If so, we would like to hear from you.

Why was my order cancelled?

The most common reasons for cancelled orders are:

i.  The transaction was unsuccessful due to the payment method used (credit card or EFT)

ii.  Payment for an EFT order was not received within the time allowed (48 hours)

iii.  We unexpectedly ran short of stock. While we make every effort to make sure our stock information is accurate when you place an order, occasionally this can happen.
